Chiefs split weekend with win and loss
The Kelowna Chiefs won on the road and were defeated at home this weekend.
During their Saturday January 14 match in Sicamous, the Chiefs doubled up the Eagles 4 – 2.
Captain Dane Rupert netted two goals while Landon Andrusiak and Phil Bamber each added two assists.
On Friday January 13, the Kelowna Chiefs were defeated 7 – 4 by the Princeton Posse.
The Posse opened up scoring and had a 3 – 1 lead by the end of the first period.
The Chiefs fought back and were down by 1 goal early in the third period but Princeton added two quick goals, including one in the empty net, to widen the gap.
Scoring for Kelowna was Brent Lashuk (2G), Phil Bamber (1G), and Kyle Clerke (1G). PJ Lawler added a couple of assists.
The Kelowna Chiefs were without goalie Tyler O’Donnell for both games this weekend, who is still out with an injury. Connor Wilkinson was between the pipes for both matches.
The Chiefs would like to thank Chris Turner (Kelowna Midget Tier 1) and Steven Woods (Winfield Midgets) for suiting up as back-up goaltenders this weekend.
Next action for the Kelowna Chiefs is Friday January 20in Revelstoke. The Chiefs return to Rutland Arena Saturday January 21 to face off against the first place Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
