Kelowna Chiefs Stick With Reading Program
The Kelowna Chiefs STICK WITH READING program is dedicated to promoting strong reading habits among children and youth in pre-school through sixth grade by utilizing Chiefs’ players as guest readers at library groups, children’s groups and schools in the Okanagan Valley. It is a community service program intended to help the club fulfill its mission to build stronger community and give players an opportunity to be strong role models in our community in the spirit of hockey.
The goal of this education-based initiative is to reach out to children and youth in our community by having Chiefs players read to and with students. Through the mentoring program, students are encouraged to attain specific reading goals during the season with various awards provided for reading achievements.
