On the heels of losing a pair of games to Osoyoos over the weekend, the Kelowna Chiefs bounced back with a 6-2 win over the North Okanagan Knights.
In the return of goaltender Brandon Gaucher, injured early in the season against these very same Knights, the game started with the first two shots against him being goals. But that would be all the daylight the Knights would see for the night.
The Chiefs had a goal of their own between the two from the Knights and the first period ended with the Knights up 2-1.
The second period was a thing of beauty from the Chiefs including numerous timely saves from Gaucher, a goal from KIJHL rookie Landon Gran and another from defenseman turned forward (due to injuries) Brendan Laing. Jason Village, Brody Dale and Ryan Pereverzoff also added second period goals.
With those five second period goals and a 6-2 lead going into the final period, the Chiefs simply ran the game out on the Knights to earn their tenth win of the young season.
This coming Friday night at 7pm, the conference leading Chase Heat visit Rutland Arena.
