Chiefs’ Marchant joins ACHA’S ASU Sun Devils

Ty Marchant of the Kelowna Chiefs has signed to play for Arizona State University Sun Devils in the ACHA Division 1 for the 2022-23 season.

The Kelowna product spent three seasons with the Chiefs, playing 93 career KIJHL regular season games, putting up 77 points.

Marchant said his time with the Chiefs allowed him to become a more well-rounded player and developed his confidence on the ice.

“I’m grateful to the Chiefs organization for the experiences and opportunities I have gained from playing there, and I’m excited for what’s to come.

“ASU has amazing educational programs, as well as a great hockey program and facilities,” Marchant added. “The coaches are experienced and dedicated to creating a successful and winning environment.”

Chiefs General Manager Jason Tansem said Ty was the unanimous choice to be the team captain last season which says a lot about him and his character.

“He is a very determined player and was a tremendous asset for our team,” said Tansem. “He is a solid young man and will be going into another situation in which I know he will thrive.”
