Owen Ivanov of the Kelowna Chiefs is this week’s Young Guns selection after he had two goals and three assists in two games.
In a 4-2 win over the Princeton Posse on Jan. 24, the rookie had a goal and four points. Then in their 5-4 overtime win over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Jan. 25, Ivanov scored again.
Against the Posse, Ivanov said he simply played his game.
“I was just in the right spot at the right time for those goals,” said Ivanov, who turned 18 on Jan. 10. “We could throw in a bit of skill for that Creston Valley goal, but it’s just doing the right things and trusting your teammates and getting the puck in.”
Ivanov has 28 points in 31 games, which has him third on the Chiefs in points.
