Chiefs Double up on Steam

It didn’t take long to renew rivalries between the Kelowna Chiefs and Summerland. After a 3-3 tie at home in Kelowna last night the boys rolled to a 4-2 win in Summerland.

The Chiefs swapped out 11 players from last night and went with a much younger, less experienced squad then the hosts.

You could see the nerves in the first period but after a little fire in the room after the 1st by Head Coach Len Law, the Boys came out and played with much more grit. Colby Sorenson who was the second fastest player on the ice next to the “Finnish Flash” Leo Harju opened the scoring followed up by 15 year old KC Cosgrove. Summerland tied it up early in the third period but the Chiefs responded with a skill goal by Leo Harju. 16 year old Divaan Sahota finished it off late in the 3rd period by going to the net with no fear.

Summerland leaned on their veterans for the majority of the third period but the Chiefs youngsters were just too determined.

Rookie Carter Wiebe (D) had a pair of assists and Zane Avery helped out with 3. 17 year old Leo Harju from Finland has scored 2 goals in his first two exhibition games. Robbie Paialunga and Keelan Hondro split duties in net.

The Chiefs play their final two exhibition games at home Friday, September 6th and September 7th.
